Metik is the Amsterdam and Berlin based duo of guitarist Bram Stadhouders and drummer Luca Marini. Long time collaborators and experienced international performers, they combine more than two decades of touring and recording into a focused dialogue between acoustic instrumentation and electronic sound design.
Both artists were educated in jazz performance and contemporary classical composition. Their approach to electronic music begins with physical instruments. Acoustic drums, percussion, guitar and string instruments from different traditions are recorded and processed alongside synthesizers, creating wide and slowly unfolding compositions where rhythm, texture and melody carry equal weight.
Metik treats electronic music as a performative medium rather than a purely programmed one. The sound is cinematic and immersive yet grounded in groove, building a bridge between ambient electronica, melodic IDM and instrumental composition.
Their debut album on Atomnation, Cordier, was recorded over four years in a home studio overlooking Lake Lugano. The stillness and shifting light of the surrounding landscape informed the atmosphere of the record. Space, depth and gradual movement became structural elements within the music itself.
Seven tracks, guitar driven and percussion focused foundations expanded with synthesizers and layered arrangements. Multiple instrumental voices interact within open compositions, genre crossing, ethereal and organic.
